Update: The deadline has been extended to February 23, 2020.

We all know how hard it can be when starting in your career. Especially as a woman…even more so when you’re a woman of color. Wouldn’t it be cool to have someone who’s been there, done that, show you the ropes, alert you to the pitfalls?

According to a 30-year SAP HR Study, employees with mentors receive a higher compensation and a greater number of promotions.

Safe to say, the odds are in your favor if you have a mentor. Don’t know where to find one? Well, Women Who Create aims to help with that. They have created the first mentorship program for women of color created by women of color.

They will match college students (or those early in their career with 1 – 5 years of experience) with someone who has the same aspirations, ambition, and interests for a 15-week program.

Applicants should be interested in a career in the creative industry, i.e. producers, art directors, journalists, marketing managers, and more. Although Women Who Create will host various events in NYC to network, you do not have to live in New York to be a mentee.

Deadline to apply is February 7, 2020.
