High school seniors can explore the campus of University of Vermont during Discovering UVM weekends. Geared toward students from underrepresented groups, they will spend two days in residence halls with a UVM student host, attend a class, and learn about the college application process. Discovering UVM participants will receive free room and board for the program. A travel grant (PDF) is available to help with the cost of traveling to UVM if needed.
There are three weekends to choose from: October 18, October 25, and November 1, 2015.
To be considered, students should have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of B (3.0) or better. Applicants should be on track to have completed the following by graduation:
- 4 years of English
- 3 years of math (including algebra 1, geometry and algebra 2 or the equivalent)
- 3 years of science
- 2 years of social science
- 2 years of the same foreign language
Students should complete the application by:
- October 3 for October 18
- October 10 for October 25
- October 17 for November 1
Students will also need to submit a high school transcript, letter of recommendation from their counselor, parental consent and medical form.
