The James Beard Foundation, with support from the Gannett Foundation, is looking for aspiring food journalists from underrepresented communities. The new media fellowship program will award a $2,500 grant for a 3-month term starting January through March 2020.
The fellows should be local to the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) and would be expected to commit to at least two days a week in the Beard Foundation offices in Manhattan. They will develop short and long-form editorial content while being overseen by the Foundation’s media department, and mentored by Jamila Robinson, who is a member of the Journalism committee of the Beard Awards.
To be eligible, applicants should:
-Be rising college juniors or seniors, or graduate students
-Express an interest in pursuing a career in media (it is not required that you major in journalism or communications—all majors accepted)
Deadline to apply December 20, 2019.
