The California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) is a rigorous pre-professional training program in the visual and performing arts, creative writing, animation, and film for talented artists currently enrolled in 9th through 12th grades. CSSSA provides a supportive environment in which students hone acquired skills and explore new techniques and ideas for an intense and exciting learning experience.
This year’s program runs from July 11 – August 7, 2015 and is held on the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) campus in Valencia where students will stay in separate male and female wings of the dorms.
Students apply for the opportunity to study in one of the School’s seven departments and may receive 3 units of California State University elective credit for successful participation. Students do not need to be California residents in order to apply.
Applications are due February 28, 2015. The cost for California residents is $1500 and $5,000 for out of state students. Financial aid is available.
