ACT-SO is a great way for your student to showcase their talents and abilities and win prizes in the process. The annual competition and enrichment program sponsored by the NAACP, is designed to recognize high academic and cultural achievements open to ALL students of color in math, science, performing and visual arts, and the humanities.
There are 32 academic categories and students can choose to participate in up to three. Contestants who win first place at the Local competition, qualify to attend the National ACT-SO competition in July (held in Boston this year), with travel and hotel expenses supplemented by the Branch. National gold, silver and bronze winners win monetary prizes, scholarships and other sponsor prizes.
