Applications are available for the Los Angeles branch of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJLA) scholarships. Applicants must be African-American undergraduate or graduate students in good standing attending an accredited U.S. college or university. They must be students living in Southern California, or have a permanent residence in Southern California. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to journalism or a career in communications/news media.
Scholarship amounts will vary depending on the number of applicants and demonstrated financial need. Deadline to apply is December 2, 2019.
Students should be prepared to write an 400-word essay on an issue or story impacting African Americans that has not received appropriate media coverage in 2019.
